Summary
The Communities, Equalities and People Committee (CEP) is asked to confirm the appointments of Chair and Vice Chair and to agree appointments to its three sub-committees – Equalities and Diversity, Community Engagement & Citizen Focus and Human Resources & Remuneration.
A. Recommendation
That
- members note the appointments of Cindy Butts as Chair, and Victoria Borwick as Vice Chair, of CEP Committee made by the Authority on 24 June 2010; and
- members confirm the membership of the Equalities and Diversity, Community Engagement & Citizen Focus and Human Resources & Remuneration Sub-Committees.
B. Supporting information
1. At the annual meeting of the Authority on 24 June 2010 a report was considered giving expressions of interest for appointment to the MPA’s sub-committees. Committee membership and appointments of Chairs and Vice Chairs are effective immediately and until the Authority’s next Annual Meeting in 2011.
2. Members are asked to note the appointment of the Chair and Vice Chair to the CEP committee and to confirm the membership of the sub-committees. The committee membership for the 2010/11 committee year is attached at appendix 1.
3. The dates for all committee meetings have already been agreed by the full Authority and these are available on the MPA’s website at:

3. Financial Implications
Under the Members’ Allowance Scheme made in accordance with the provisions of the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) Regulations 2008 and adopted by the MPA on 6 October 2008, Chairs of committees and sub-committees are entitled to claim a special responsibility allowance (SRA) in addition to the basic allowance payable to all members of the Authority. The SRA payable to chairs of the four main committees is currently set at £11 641.00 and £3 864.00 for chairs of the sub-committees. Provision has been made within existing budgets for the payment of SRAs as appropriate.
