Summary
This report seeks to inform Members of the Preliminary Draft Budget for the financial year 2001/2002 and the outline timetable for further submissions to the GLA.
A. Supporting information
1. The Preliminary Draft Budget for the Metropolitan Police Authority for the financial year 2001/2002 was submitted to the GLA on 16 June 2000.
2. The submission and covering memorandum is attached for information.
3. It should be noted that the Preliminary Draft provided for £46m for the London pay lead. The settlement of £3,327 for post-Sheehy officers requires £25m, a reduction of £21m in the budget requirement.
4. This is the first stage in the process for agreeing a budget for the financial year 2001/2002. An Intermediate Draft is required by the GLA by the end of September 2000, with final submission of the Authority's budget requirement scheduled for the end of December 2000.
5. Reports on the development of the 2001/2002 budget will be submitted to the Finance, Planning and Best Value Committee.
B. Recommendations
- That the Preliminary Draft Budget submission to the GLA for the financial year 2001/2002 and the variation in respect of the London pay lead settlement be noted.
- That the outline timetable for further submissions be noted.
C. Financial implications
There are no direct financial implications in the current financial year arising from this report.
D. Review arrangements
The Authority will be closely involved in the formulation of next year's budget.
