MPA calendar of meetings 2002/03

Report: 10
Date: 27 June 2002
By: Clerk

Summary

This report takes account of requests made by members at the May Authority meeting with regard to the MPA calendar of meetings for 2002/03 and the decision of the Co-ordination and Urgency Committee on 11 June 2002 to seek ratification of the calendar by the full Authority.

A. Recommendations

That the calendar of meetings for 2002/03 given at Appendix 1 to the report be agreed (see Supporting material).

B. Supporting information

1. At the Authority meeting held on 23 May 2002, members agreed that Thursday afternoons should continue to be allocated for MPA meetings to minimise meeting clashes with the Greater London Authority. The draft calendar of dates of committee meetings for 2002/03 also tries to take account of members' existing commitments and possible travelling difficulties on some of the proposed dates. Members agreed that where a Thursday was not available, meetings should, where possible, be programmed into the calendar for Mondays or Fridays.

2. Members also agreed that, as and when necessary, the new Co-ordination and Policing Committee should commence with a formal meeting and be followed by an informal lunchtime briefing and this has now been incorporated within the calendar.

3. The Co-ordination and Urgency Committee (CUC) at its meeting on 11 June 2002 agreed that, having now taken account of those comments received, the calendar should be ratified by the full Authority. The CUC also agreed the dates of meeting in July 2002 in order for sufficient time be available for officers to undertake the necessary preparation work for those meetings.

4. A copy of the revised calendar has been circulated to all members prior to this meeting.

C. Financial implications

None.

D. Background papers

None.
