Summary
This report gives details, for information, of action taken by the Clerk under delegated authority on the grounds of urgency.
A. Recommendation
That the report be noted.
B. Supporting information
1. Standing Order 6.1 provides for the Clerk or Treasurer to take decisions under delegated authority and in consultation with specified members where a decision is required urgently. Decisions taken in this way have to be reported to the next meeting of the Authority for information. This report must state which members were consulted. Under the urgency procedure, wherever possible the members of the relevant committee (or of the Authority if that would be the decision-making body) should be informed in advance of the proposal to take a decision. This action must also be reported as having been carried out.
2. The following action has been taken:
- Agreeing to provide legal assistance to police officers involved in the inquest into the death of Derek Bennett (16/04). This decision was taken by the Clerk after consultation with the Chair and Deputy Chairs of the Authority. All members of Professional Standards & Complaints Committee were notified in advance (by email) of the proposed decision.
