John Roberts stated that he sat on the appeals panel relating to the person whose pension was to be discussed at agenda item 6. He therefore absented himself from the meeting for this item.

Resolved - That the minutes of the Professional Standards Cases Sub Committee (Part 1): 14 September 2006 be confirmed and signed as a correct record.

A resolution was put to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the remaining agenda items as they would be likely to disclose exempt information as described in Part 1, Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

Resolved – That the press and public be excluded from the meeting during the remaining agenda items.

The minutes of the Professional Standards Cases Sub Committee (Part 2): 14 September 2006 were confirmed and signed as a correct record. Members agreed that a letter should be written to the Home Office seeking clarification about its decision not to issue a certificate of forfeiture in a case previously considered.

29. Application for a certificate

Members resolved that an application should be made to the Home Secretary for a certificate of pension forfeiture in relation to an ex officer.
