Minutes of the special meeting of the Professional Standards Cases Sub-committee of the Metropolitan Police Authority held on 31 July 2007 at 10 Dean Farrar Street, London SW1H 0NY.

10. Apologies for absence
(Agenda item 1)
No apologies were received.
11. Declarations of interests
(Agenda item 2)
The Chair stated that as the link member with responsibility for Specialist Operations, he had regular contact with one of the officers named in the report. However, following advice from the Solicitor to the Authority, members agreed that this did not constitute a prejudicial interest and that the Chair should not be precluded from considering the IPCC’s report.
Resolved – That declarations of interest be received.
12. Exclusion of press and public
(Agenda item 3)
A resolution was put to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the remaining agenda item as it would be likely to disclose exempt information as described in Part 1, Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).
Resolved – That the press and public be excluded from the meeting during the remaining agenda items.
13. Stockwell 2 investigation – IPCC report
(Agenda item 4)
Members agreed that no officer should be suspended at the present time and a public statement be issued to inform the public that the MPA was awaiting Counsel’s advice and was treating the IPCC’s investigation seriously. The Sub-Committee would meet again on 20 September 2007. in the meantime the Commissioner be asked to present a report at the next Full Authority meeting detailing the MPS’ response to the IPCC’s findings.
