Summary
To report on the dip sampling of closed complaints’ files undertaken by members of the Authority in February 2011 and other associated matters.
A. Recommendations
That members
- Note and discuss the contents of this report.
- Note the further amendment to the draft checklist, as per members’ request at the meeting of the Professional Standards Cases Sub-Committee (“the PSCSC”) on 7 March 2011.
B. Supporting information
1. At its meeting on 7 March 2011, the PSCSC determined that the checklist for reviewing closed complaint files be amended to include a section on learning the lessons. This has been amended accordingly (see Appendix 1).
Dip sampling of closed complaint files in February 2011
2. The Chair of the PSCSC requested closed complaint files from the Borough of Enfield on incivility, oppressive behaviour and failure in duty. In total 8 files were received from the Directorate of Professional Standards.
3. It is proposed that for future dip sampling, each member of the Sub-Committee be given the opportunity to select the boroughs and themes they would like to be dip sampled.
4. In accordance with the Protocol on Dip Sampling, a meeting will take place between the Directorate of Professional Standards and the Chair of the PSCSC on 30 April to discuss the findings of the dip sampling which are attached at Appendix 2, as an exempt item.
