Summary

The Strategic and Operational Policing Committee (SOPC) is asked to ratify an amendment to the terms of reference for the Counter-Terrorism and Protective Services Sub-Committee.

A. Recommendation

That members ratify an amendment to the terms of reference for, the Counter-Terrorism and Protective Services Sub Committee.

B. Supporting information

1. At its meeting on 13 November 2008 the Strategic and Operational Policing Committee (SOP) agreed the terms of reference for the Sub-Committees.

2. At its meeting on 27 November the Counter-Terrorism and Protective Services Sub-Committee resolved to recommend a small change in one of its terms of reference which originally read “To monitor specialist crime policing in particular those that require appropriate vetting levels (e.g. covert policing)” The proposed new wording is “To consider areas of protective service policing that require Members to be higher vetted.“

3. The Committee is asked to ratify this amendment.
