Summary

The report seeks agreement to future dates of the Co-ordination and Policing Committee from July 2007 to July 2008.

A. Recommendations

That members agree the dates for meetings of the Committee as outlined at Appendix 1 to the report

B. Supporting information

1. At the Authority meeting held on 19 December 2006, members considered the calendar of MPA meetings for 2007/08.

2. In considering the calendar, some members asked that meeting dates for the Co-ordination and Policing (CoP) Committee be looked at again, as those scheduled for Fridays were not suitable.

3. In considering alternative dates for these meetings and taking account of the informal agreement between the functional bodies that Thursdays afternoons should be used for MPA meetings, it has been possible to move some CoP meetings to Thursday afternoons. However, finding alternative dates where there are no clashes involving the current membership has proved very difficult. To avoid too many clashes it is proposed to move some CoP meetings to a Thursday morning.

4. In moving these meetings from a Friday to either a Thursday morning or afternoon, it is acknowledged that some members will have difficulty in attending some of the proposed meetings, however, it appears that the effect in comparison with other days would be limited.

5. In the long-term officers hope to hold discussions with colleagues from the other functional bodies about expanding the capacity for MPA meetings in order to avoid future clashes of meetings.

• Thursdays 6 December 2007 at 10.00 a.m. (clash with TfL – can’t move meeting to pm as EOBD takes place)

• No meeting in May due to GLA elections
