Summary

The Finance Committee received the attached report at its meeting on 18 December 2003. The procurement strategy is referred to the Board for consideration of the equalities and diversity aspects.

A. Recommendations

That the equalities and diversity aspects of the procurement strategy be considered.

B. Supporting information

1. The Finance Committee received the procurement strategy attached at appendix 1 at its meeting on 18 December 2003. The strategy is supported by detailed documents and policies.

2. The Finance Committee approved the procurement strategy subject to the inclusion of a specific reference to TUPE and to possible revision in the light of the findings of the Gershon review. (The Gershon review was set up by HM Treasury and is examining efficiency in the public sector including an examination of procurement.)

The procurement strategy is attached for members only. It is also available on the website and on application to the MPA Secretariat ( 020 7202 0182)

C. Equality and diversity implications

The equal opportunities and diversity implications are contained in pages 15 and 16 of the strategy which is in overall support of the MPA equal opportunities statement agreed by this Board in September and now formally included as part of the Authority’s contract regulations. The MPS and MPA are in membership of the GLA Procurement Officers Network.

D. Financial implications

There are no financial implications resulting from this report as all financial aspects are dealt with during the procurement process.
