Summary

The attached report records that HM Inspectorate of Constabulary have concluded that the efficiency target set for 2002-2003 has been achieved.

1. In a letter dated 7 August 2003 Sir Ronnie Flanagan, HM Inspector of Constabulary reports that he has assessed the performance indicator for the 2002-2003 Efficiency Plan. He has recorded that the efficiency target set for the MPS for 2002-2003 was achieved, financial gains are well evidenced and that performance in 2002/03 has improved on 2001/02.

2. The 2% target was set at £40.75 million and some £42.74 million efficiency gains were achieved, comprising £36.04 million cashable and £6.70 million non cashable.
