Summary

Members are asked to note the recent report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) on MPS Finance & Resources. HMIC have requested this be presented to the MPA Finance Committee.

A. Recommendation

Members are asked to note the report.

B. Supporting information

1. The Metropolitan Police Service is included in HMIC’s specialist Finance and Resources inspection programme each year. For 2003/04 it was agreed that HMIC’s specialist staff would inspect:

  1. Estate Management
  2. Income Generation and Sponsorship
  3. Update on the overall position of the Finance Service

2. The report by Mr. Coker, HMIC’s Financial and Resources adviser is now attached (Appendix 1), together with a request from Sir Ronnie Flanagan to the Commissioner that this report is presented to this Finance Committee. Mr. Coker will be in attendance to present his report and answer any questions the Committee may have.
