Summary

This report invites the Committee to make appointments to the Budget and Police Overtime Review Group.

A. Recommendations

That members agree to make appointments in respect of the Budget and Police Overtime Review Group and to consider the remit of the group as detailed below.

B. Supporting information

1. The budget group was established to look in detail at budget development and monitoring issues and to carry out a review of police overtime. The current membership is Graham Tope (Chair) together with all other members of the Finance Committee.

2. The Committee is asked to confirm the membership and to appoint the Chair. The Committee may also wish to consider whether to widen the remit of the group to consider a series of mini-scrutinies of the overtime budgets of individual Operational Command Units.

3. The group meets as the business requires – usually a few days before each meeting of the Finance Committee. The meetings are used from time to time used to provide presentations to members on major reports to be considered by the Finance Committee. A schedule of dates of budget group meetings was due to be confirmed by the budget group at its July meeting and this will be circulated to all members.
