This report gives a summary of Specialist Operations Command performance against its objectives from February 2005 to March 2005 attached at Appendix 1.

B. Supporting information

1. This report provides management information on the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Specialist Operations (SO) Command.

2. The report gives brief commentary on performance against the MPS objectives. It comments on the performance data provided and any difficulties in achieving the targets.

3. Specialist Operations Counter Terrorism performance measures continue to be reviewed and improved to support the MPS mission of making London the safest major city in the world.

There are no specific equalities items addressed. The performance indicators within this report and their data content are arrived at with a regard to delivering Specialist Operations policing services - in cooperation with the other commands within the MPS, the greater policing family and other organisations - as appropriate to the people who live and work in London. This report should fully comply with equal opportunities policies and associated Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA)/MPS Diversity issues.

D. Financial implications

SO collects performance data on a regular basis, however, additional effort is expended on the qualitative and quantitative analysis of performance measures included in this report.
