Summary

The Committee is asked to appoint the Chair, Deputy Chair and membership of the Planning Panel for the committee year 2006-2007.

A. Recommendation

That

  1. the Committee seeks nominations and appoint the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Planning Panel; and
  2. appoints members to the Planning Panel for the committee year 2006-2007.

B. Supporting information

1. The Committee is asked to appoint the Chair, Deputy Chair and membership of the Planning Panel.

2. The previous membership of the Planning Panel has been the membership of the Planning Performance and Review Committee, although membership can be drawn from the Authority as a whole.

3. Membership of the Planning Panel would usually be appointed after the annual meeting, however the Planning Performance and Review Committee will not meet again until mid September. In addition, it unlikely that Committee membership will change substantially following the annual meeting, and all Authority members can seek appointment to the Planning Panel.

C. Race and equality impact

The Planning Panel under its terms of reference, must have due regard to equal opportunities generally, the general duty of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 and the requirements of any other equalities legislation in carrying out a role given to them by the Planning Performance and Review Committee.
