Summary

At the Professional Standards and Complaints Committee (PSCC) meeting in November, Members were provided with an update on the research into disproportionality that is being conducted by Cambridge University Institute of Criminology.

On 12 December 2005, Commander Akers and DCS Bussey had a meeting with Dr Matravers to discuss the next steps in the research and the overall time frame for completion. Following the initial focus groups held with staff associations the research team will be holding further sessions with the Muslim Police Association, Black Police Association and a group of first line supervisors leading up to Christmas.

Dr Matravers will attend the PSCC meeting on 12 January 2006 in order to update Members on the following issues.

  1. The research completed to date and the emerging findings.
  2. The timescale for completion of the final research report.
  3. The estimated cost to completion.
