To present to members for information and comment, a draft protocol dealing with individual complaints matters.

A. Supporting information

Background

1. Members will be aware that the Authority is in the process of preparing and agreeing a number of protocols on specific issues. These set out advice and guidance on how individual matters and relationships should ideally happen. One such protocol is over how individual members should deal with individual complaints.

Protocol

2. Attached at Appendix 1 is the latest draft of a protocol on members’ involvement with individual complaints matters. This has been prepared by the MPA’s officers in partnership with the MPS. It still requires final ratification by the MPS.

3. Members are asked to consider the protocol and make any comment they feel to be appropriate regarding changes for inclusion in the final version.

B. Recommendations

That the draft protocol be noted and members comment on any changes they would like to be included in the final version.

C. Financial implications

There are no financial implications.

D. Review arrangements

There are no formal review arrangements but members may reconsider any arrangement or protocol at any time.
