Summary
This reports seeks nominations for the position of Chair and Deputy Chair of the sub-committee and to ask members to note the terms of reference of the sub-committee.
A. Recommendations
- Members appoint a Chair and Deputy Chair for the Sub Committee for a period up to the AGM of the full Authority in June 2002; and
- Members be asked to note the terms of reference of the sub-committee
B. Supporting information
1. At the meeting of the Professional Standards and Performance Monitoring (PSPM) Committee held on 11 April 2002, it was agreed to delegate to a sub-committee the function of considering complaints and discipline issues relating to ACPO officers to a ACPO Complaints sub-committee.
2. The PSPM Committee agreed the membership of the sub-committee as: Reshard Auladin, R David Muir, Elizabeth Howlett, Richard Sumray and Rachel Whittaker. The Sub-Committee are now asked to nominate a Chair and Deputy Chair of the sub-committee.
3. The PSPM Committee also agreed the following terms of reference for the sub-committee, which members are asked to note:
- ‘To investigate and deal with any allegations, report and complaints about the conduct of officers of ACPO rank in accordance with appropriate regulations.’
- ‘To consider all matters relating to discipline against ACPO rank officers, within police regulations’.
4. The sub-committee will meet on an ad-hoc basis and members are reminded that in accordance with the Authority’s Standing Orders the quorum for this meeting is 3 members.
