17 May 2004

The Metropolitan Police Authority’s Stop and Search Scrutiny panel will publish its final report on Thursday 20 May at the meeting of Equal Opportunities and Diversity Board.

You are invited to a media briefing with Cecile Wright, Chair of the Scrutiny panel and the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Board at 10, Dean Farrar Street on Thursday 20 May at 1.00 p.m.

The report contains a range of far reaching recommendations that should lead to improvements in the use of stop and search by the Metropolitan Police Service in London. The Commissioner, Sir John Stevens has accepted the findings of the report and has already asked Cecile Wright to assist the Met in implementing the report.

Copies of the report will be made available at the briefing.
