Peter Woodhams - MPA statement

50/06
25 August 2006

In view of the fact that the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has agreed to investigate this case independently, which the Metropolitan Police Authority welcomes, there will not be a detailed report to the MPA until the IPCC investigation is concluded.

However, we have asked that the next meeting of the MPA's Coordination and Policing Committee on Friday 1 September is given an oral update of the current investigation into the shooting and such information as can properly be given at this stage about the earlier incident and the IPCC investigation. We have asked also to know what action is being taken to reassure the local community.
