31/07
29 June 2007
Londoners should remain alert but calm in the wake of the incidents currently affecting central areas of the capital.
Reshard Auladin, MPA deputy chair, said this evening:
“The Metropolitan Police Service is doing everything they can to minimise danger and disruption.
“The actions by officers earlier today, making safe a potentially lethal explosive device at great personal danger, is typical of the selfless dedication to duty that our officers display on so many occasions.
“The Authority commends and thanks them on behalf of Londoners.
“People should be confident that the police are working round the clock to ensure their safety and to enable the capital to carry on as normal.
“The MPA maintains close contact with London boroughs and, together with borough commanders, will be working closely with community representatives to reassure people.
“The overall message is remain calm but vigilant. If you see anything suspicious ring the confidential anti terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.”
