Statement by Len Duvall MPA Chair - MPS continues to improve in Police Performance Assessment Framework

48/07
9 October 2007

Len Duvall, chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority, welcomed the publication of the Home Office Police Performance Assessment Framework (PPAF), which rates police forces across England and Wales according to their performance.

"The 2006/07 PPAF has highlighted welcome improvements made by the MPS in the previous twelve months, continuing the upward trend from the year before.

“We thank everyone in the service for their continued work to make London safer. However, the MPA recognises there is still much work to do and we will continue to monitor progress to ensure the service provided to Londoners gets better year on year."

The categories in the assessment range from meeting local needs to improving community confidence and shows the MPS building on last year's results and continuing to improve.
