The Metropolitan Police Authority has appointed four Deputy Assistant Commissioners to the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). Three will be appointed immediately to posts, and the fourth when a position becomes available.

The three appointed immediately are:

A panel of five MPA members interviewed the candidates. Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson acted as police advisor, and Catherine Crawford, MPA Chief Executive, advised the panel. Ann Gill (Office of the Commissioner of Public Appointments) was an independent advisor.

MPA Vice Chair Kit Malthouse, who led the selection panel, said:

"The Metropolitan Police Authority congratulates the successful candidates. All applicants were of a high calibre, and impressed the panel with their strategic and tactical knowledge, and policing experience. We expect them to use their skills, expertise and professionalism to deliver efficient and effective policing for the people of London.”

Commenting on the promotions, Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson said:

"My congratulations to all the successful candidates on their promotions. The Met is a wonderful organisation to work for and it will greatly benefit from the impressive skills and experience that all four will bring to their new roles. I look forward to working closely with them."
