Metropolitan Police Authority: July Meeting
52/09
21/07/2009
The July meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority will be held in the Chamber, City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA at 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 23 July 2009. Please note this meeting is scheduled to finish at 11.00 a.m.
The meeting is open to members of the public and press, and everyone is welcome to attend. There is access for disabled people and induction loops are available.
Boris Johnson, MPA Chair, and Kit Malthouse, MPA Vice Chair, will give an oral update on any key issues or events since the last Authority meeting. Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson will present a report on policing performance and respond to questions from Authority members.
Authority members will also congratulate four Met Territorial Support Group (TSG) officers for their bravery and self less dedication to duty in the face of danger. With no regard for their own safety, they chased an armed suspect and tackled him to the ground before arresting him. The officers won both the London region award and UK overall bravery award at the Police Bravery Awards 2009, held on 17 July 2009 and sponsored by the Sun newspaper. A filmed reconstruction of the officers’ actions will be shown.
Other issues to be discussed include:
- Terms of reference of the Civil Liberties Panel; and
- MPA/MPS Policing London Annual Report 2008/09
