Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 established the formation of statutory Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) in recognition of the idea that crime reduction cannot be the responsibility of just one agency, such as the police and should be tackled by a variety of agencies working together in partnership.

By law each partnership must include the MPA, the MPS, local authorities, Primary Care Trusts, London Fire Brigade and Probation Services, but may also include a range of additional organisations and businesses, all of whom have banded together to develop and implement strategies for tackling crime and disorder at a local level.

The MPA is represented on each CDRP by the borough link member, who is supported by an officer of MPA’s Engagement and Partnerships Team.

• Safer London Problem Orientated Partnerships Awards
  The Problem Orientated Partnerships Awards recognise the achievements of partnership projects between the police, local communities and other partners, that are responsive to local needs, are people focused and address the causes of crime, not just the consequences, to reduce crime and disorder. The MPA, the MPS and Safer London Foundation sponsor the awards.
