- Metropolitan Police Authority
October 2002 updated March 2005
The Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) is responsible for maintaining an effective and efficient police service for London. It is an independent statutory body, established under The Greater London Authority Act 1999, and came into effect in July 2000. - MPA Budget
October 2002 revised May 2008
The finances of the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) are complex, partly due to its unique constitutional position within the Greater London Authority (GLA), but also because of its size, an annual £3 billion, and the diverse nature of its activities.
