Valerie Brasse
Independent Member
Until July 2007 Valerie Brasse was secretary/adviser to the Cumberlege Commission, established by the Catholic Church to review its safeguarding arrangements for children and vulnerable adults. She has since been appointed a lay member of the National Catholic Safeguarding Commission. She is also a non-executive board member of the new Independent Safeguarding Authority.
Previously she worked for nearly 20 years in the civil service in a number of senior posts dealing with health and social care (eg as an adviser to the Victoria Climbie child abuse inquiry). She was a magistrate for fifteen years until 2002.
