Summary

The Professional Standards Cases Sub-Committee has finalised its consideration of the report by Sir Ronnie Flanagan into the award of contracts to the company Impact Plus. The Sub-Committee has requested that the Corporate Governance Committee oversee the implementation of the ‘lessons learnt’ identified in the report.

A response to Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s recommendations together with details of any further action required will be reported to the next meeting of this Committee.

A. Recommendation

Members are asked to:

  1. Note the action for the Corporate Governance Committee to oversee the implementation of Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s recommendations.
  2. Receive a response to Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s recommendations together with an action plan to address any issues that remain outstanding at the March 2010 meeting.

B. Supporting information

1. The Professional Standards Cases Sub-Committee has finalised its consideration of Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s report into the award of the contracts to Impact Plus. The Committee resolved to refer responsibility for overseeing the ‘lessons learnt’ identified in the report to the Corporate Governance Committee.

2. Senior officers of the MPA and MPS are currently considering the twelve recommendations made by Sir Ronnie Flanagan in the report. A response to each of the recommendations together with details of any further action required will be reported to the next meeting of this Committee.

C. Race and equality impact

The award of future contracts by an open and transparent procedure will enable all communities to tender equally for MPA contracts.

D. Financial implications

This report has no financial implications as the cost of implementing the recommendations will be met from existing resources.
