Summary

The MPA/MPS have a statutory duty to publish their joint annual report for 2006/07 by 30 June 2007. A copy of the draft annual report is circulated with this report at Appendix 1.

A. Recommendation

That members consider the draft annual report and provide feedback, in doing so note that the MPS are currently awaiting feedback from other stakeholders and a section relating to Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships is to be included.

B. Supporting information

1. There is a statutory duty to publish an annual report and the MPA and MPS publish a joint report each year.

2. The annual report will be published on the MPA and MPS websites on 30 June. Printed versions will be available later and sent to libraries and stakeholders.

3. The annual report is a detailed and comprehensive document. A flavour of the achievements and challenges of 2006/2007 may be gleaned from the joint foreword by the Chair and the Commissioner.

Race and diversity issues are addressed in the annual report.

D. Financial implications

There are no financial implications for the MPA.
