B. Supporting information
Background Information
1. The Terms of Reference of the Professional Standards Cases Sub Committee require it “to have due regard in exercising the Sub-Committee’s responsibilities to equal opportunities generally, and the general duty of the Equality Act 2010.”
2. The Professional Standards Officers have been working with the MPA’s Equalities and Engagement Team to produce a questionnaire which will enable the MPA to monitor the diversity of members of the public who make complaints about the conduct of senior officers. A copy of the draft Diversity Monitoring Questionnaire is attached as Appendix A.
3. The purpose of collecting diversity information of complainants is to allow the MPA to build up an accurate picture of the background of people who make complaints to the MPA. As this information is gathered, it will be compared to the census data to see if the information highlights any issues to address. It is intended that the figure will be reviewed on a monthly basis to ensure that any potential for adverse impact can be acted on.
4. Members are asked to review and approve the draft Diversity Monitoring Questionnaire, which officers intend to send to individuals that contact the MPA to complain about the conduct of a senior officer.
