Summary
This report consults on a draft Information Security Policy for the MPA.
A. Recommendation
That the Committee comments on the draft Information Security Policy.
B. Supporting information
1. A draft Information Security Policy is attached. Misuse of the MPA’s IS/IT facilities represents a risk to the Authority, both in terms of the network integrity and the Authority’s credibility if its network users abuse the facilities in socially unacceptable ways.
2. For this reason a clear and unambiguous policy that sets out what is or is not permitted is essential. The attached draft is subject to consultation. The Standards Committee is being included in this consultation because the policy is aimed at all network users, including MPA members.
C. Race and equality impact
The Information Security Policy will be equalities impact assessed following the outcome of consultation.
