Summary

The Strategic and Operational Policing Committee (SOPC) is asked to agree appointments to its three sub committees – Counter Terrorism (CT) and Protective Services Sub-Committee, Olympic/Paralympic Sub-Committee and Professional Standards Cases Sub-Committee.

A. Recommendation

That

  1. members note the appointments of Chair and Vice Chairs made by the full Authority; and
  2. confirm the membership of CT and Protective Services Sub-Committee, Olympic/Paralympic Sub-Committee and Professional Standards Cases Sub-Committee.

B. Supporting information

1. At the annual meeting of the full Authority on 25 June a report was considered giving expressions of interest for appointment to the MPA’s sub committees. However, it was agreed that committee membership and current appointments of Chairs, Vice Chairs and should stand until they are reconsidered by the full Authority in October.

2. Members are asked to note the reappointments of Chairs and Vice Chairs to the sub committees made by the full Authority and confirm the membership of the sub committees. The current committee membership is attached at appendix 1. These appointments will be effective until the full Authority meeting in October 2009.

3. Dates of Sub-committee meetings have already been agreed by the full Authority and the terms of reference of the Sub-committee are available on the MPA’s website.
