Summary
This paper advises members of a seminar on race hate crimes which was held in Stockholm in February and makes recommendations for members consideration on how the MPA and MPS might carry forward some of the findings of the seminar.
A. Recommendation
That Members consider the recommendations in the attached report.
B. Supporting information
1. Peter Herbert, the Deputy Chair of the Authority attended a seminar in Stockholm in February. The seminar was sponsored b the Grotius fund to examine the European wide response to the prosecution of race hate crimes.
2. A report on the seminar by the Deputy Chair was considered by the Full Authority as its meeting on 8 March 2001. It was agreed that the report on this seminar be referred to the Consultation, Diversity and Outreach Committee and that the Committee be asked to consider how the MPA and MPS might respond to the issues raised at the seminar.
3. The report by the Deputy Chair of the Authority is attached as Appendix 1.
