Summary

The draft annual report presents an overview of the progress of the Consultation Committee since its nine months establishment. It highlights areas of success and identifies areas for further development in the coming year.

A. Recommendations

That

  1. members consider the draft annual report of the activities of the committee, and
  2. agree its submission to the July meeting of the Authority

B. Supporting information

1. This is the first year of this committee and the first time that an annual report of the work and progress of the committee has been required.

2. The draft for members’ consideration is attached at appendix 1. Members are asked to propose any changes that they would like to see made, so the report might be revised in time for consideration at the meeting of the Authority on 26 July.

C. Equality and diversity implications

The annual report and the framework of the Authority’s consultation has integrated much of the requirements of the Race Relations Amendment Act and reflects other equalities best practices.

There are no financial implications to this report.
