Summary

This report seeks approval to book six places for the ACPO/APA Conference to be held at the NEC Birmingham 13-15 May 2002.

A. Recommendation

That

  1. approval be given to book six places for the Clerk and five MPA members to attend the ACPO/APA conference in May 2002; and
  2. the Clerk be authorised to agree which Members should attend.

B. Supporting information

1. Last May six members of the MPA attended the annual joint ACPO/APA Conference in and the Committee's approval is required to book six places for this year's conference

2. The annual joint ACPO/APA Conference is to be held at the NEC in Birmingham on 13-15 May 2002. This is clearly a conference that is very relevant to the MPA. All Members will be invited to express an interest in attending. It is proposed that the Clerk decide on the delegate list if the number of those interested exceeds the places available.

3. The Committee's agreement is sought as the cost exceeds the £500 threshold. The cost is £550 per delegate. Overnight accommodation for two night will be £330 and travel will be £150, making a total cost per delegate of £1,030.

C. Financial implications

4. The cost can be met from MPA budget for 2002/03.
