Summary
Following the decision to form a Transport Operational Command Unit (OCU) in the MPS, the Authority may nominate a member to liase in its forthcoming inspection.
A. Recommendation
That the Committee nominate one of the members who have expressed an interest in liasing in the forthcoming inspection of the Transport OCU.
B. Supporting information
1. Working in partnership with Transport for London (TFL), the MPS have formed a Transport OCU. This OCU will be a mix of police officers, police community support officers and traffic wardens who will ensure safety on buses, along routes and at termini. They will also enforce red routes and work in liaison with revenue protection officers; eventually there will be a joint operations room. This process is to be funded under a Special Service Agreement and will be linked to relevant performance indicators.
2. It is intended that this OCU will be inspected during the week commencing 27 October 2003.
3. Jenny Jones and Lynne Featherstone have each expressed their wish to be the nominated member.
