Committee work areas

Report: 9
Date: 4 October 2002
By: Clerk

Summary

This report proposes an allocation of the MPA’s various work areas between committees.

A. Recommendations

That the committee endorses or amends the proposed committee work areas detailed in appendix 1.

B. Supporting information

1. At its meeting on 6 September, the Committee considered a report which identified a range of general and specific work areas and suggested which committee(s) should take a lead on these. The Committee wanted to see a number of changes to this. A revised version is attached as Appendix 1 with the changes to the original version shown in italics.

2. Members also asked for an additional column showing, where appropriate, the lead member for that issue. This column has been included but not completed as it will be for individual committees to identify where a lead member is requierd for a particular issue and who that should be.

C. Equality and diversity implications

The allocation of work areas to the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Board indicates those where it is felt that the equalities dimension is sufficiently strong to make it necessary for the Board to take the lead on behalf of the MPA. This is not to say, however, that work areas allocated to other committees have no equalities dimensions and, as made clear in committee terms of reference, all committees have a responsibility to take account of these.

D. Financial implications

None
