Summary

The Audit Commission Annual Audit and Inspection Letter for 2003-04 was presented to the full Authority in February 2005, together with a proposed action plan for addressing the key recommendations it made. This report presents the current position on the action plan endorsed at that meeting.

A. Recommendations

That Members approve the steps taken to make progress against the action plan.

B. Supporting information

1. The Authority received the Audit Commission annual letter at its February 2005 meeting and endorsed the action plan developed to respond to the recommendations therein. Attached at Appendix 1 is an update on current progress against the action plan.

C. Race and equality impact

There are no specific diversity implications of the progressing actions.

D. Financial implications

The proposed actions will be contained within existing budgets.
