July performance report

Summary

This report provides a summary of MPS performance against the policing plan objectives for 2002/03.

A. Recommendation

Members are asked to note the report.

B. Supporting information

1. The MPS Performance Review Committee (PRC) considered this report on 23 July 2002.

2. The report gives brief commentary on all priorities and identifies areas where further analysis is required.

3. Appendix 1 gives a listing of policing plan performance indicators, and other high profile performance measures.

4. The PRC noted the significant rise in gun crime in July 2002. This matter has been raised at Management Board and SO are looking at addressing the emerging issue.

5. PRC asked that a paper be provided to the meeting that examines whether advertising in respect of recruitment of female and visible ethnic minority officers is achieving its aims.

6. Separate reports were received on the following:

  • action plan to deal with burglary warrants. This plan will continue to be developed. PRC also asked that consideration be given to the need for an inspection of the warrant process.
  • examination of the reduction in the rape judicial disposal rate. PRC requested further analysis that provides details of offender / victim profiles and their impact on the judicial disposal rate be brought to the meeting.
