Summary
This report gives a summary of discipline cases involving drink drive convictions between 1 January 2003 and 28 February 2005. Summaries of the cases are attached at Appendix 1.

Brief analysis of cases
1. The list of drink drive cases dealt with by the Metropolitan Police Misconduct Boards from 1 January 2003 through to 28 February 2005, are listed at Appendix 1.
2. These include information on their respective convictions at Magistrates court as well as their punishment on the misconduct Boards, and any subsequent appeals. All alcohol readings are show in microgram’s in 100 millilitres of breath with the legal limit being 35.
4. There are 28 cases looked at in this report, and they have been broken down as follows:
- Misconduct Boards and Sanctions.
- Chief Constable/ Assistant Commissioners Review (AC Review) and Sanctions.
- Police Appeals Tribunal and Sanctions.

Current practices for presiding officers and board members in drink drive cases
6. All presiding officers and board members receive training in relation to Misconduct Boards. Included in that training is guidance around drink drive cases contained in Police Notice 1/03 of the 2 January 2003 and the Home Office Guidance. This information is also included in the Sanction Guidelines book, which is available during misconduct boards.
