2001-2 performance report

Report: 05
Date: 13 June 2002
By:
Commissioner

Summary

This report gives a summary of MPS performance against policing plan objectives for the planning year 2001-2.

A. Recommendation

  1. Members are asked to note the report.

B. Supporting information

1. The MPS Performance Review Committee (PRC) considered this report on 24 May 2002.

2. The report includes a scorecard summary of Policing Plan indicators, along with commentary on each target.

3. Page 1 is the scorecard summary of all the key priorities and sustained activities for the MPS in 2001/2. The scorecard also takes account of resource and customer satisfaction issues. Targets which are being met are colour coded blue, those where performance is not being met are coloured red. Where more than one indicator is shown against a particular line, the colouring is prioritised so that, for example, if crime reduction targets are met but judicial disposal targets are not, the target is shown as on course. This prioritisation has been agreed at PRC. Where no target has been set the boxes show grey, and where no information is available the box remains blank.

4. PRC discussed this report, and asked that further analysis be carried out:

  • to investigate the gap in satisfaction between victims of racist crime, and victims of all crime;
  • to provide a more detailed analysis of autocrime and carjacking;
  • to provide a further update regarding impending prosecutions.

These reports will be submitted to future PRCs.

5. Other areas of concern were the fact that stop-search data was incomplete, and that response times to urgent incidents had continued to decline. MPS definitions of urgent incidents will be reviewed, as will our performance in comparison with other metropolitan forces.

C. Financial implications

None.

D. Background papers

None.
