A meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority will be held in Room AG16, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, SW1 on Thursday 20 September 2001 at 10.00 am.

A minute's silence will be observed for the victims of the attack on New York on Tuesday 11 September 2001. Toby Harris, Chair of the MPA, was in New York at the time of the attack and will be speaking about his experience of the devastation suffered by the people of New York. The Commissioner will also be giving an update as to current operational policing issues in London.

Other items on the Agenda include the Police Reform Programme, the use of the Met's custody facilities by Her Majesty's Immigration and a progress report on recruitment and retention in the Met.

This meeting is open to members of the press and public.
