Families and public will have a voice at MPA deaths in custody debate

05/02
17 January 2002

Family members and members of the public will be able to contribute to the debate on deaths in custody at the special meeting of the Full Authority to be held on Friday 18 January in the Harvey Goodwin Room, Church House, Great Smith Street, London SW1 at 10.00am.

Toby Harris, Chair of the MPA, has confirmed that he will recommend to the Full Authority special meeting on deaths in custody that the standing orders should be suspended for that meeting.

This will enable members of the public to contribute to the issues discussed.

Toby Harris, Chair of the MPA said:

“It was always my intention, given the exceptional nature of the meeting, to recommend that standing orders be suspended to encourage open and transparent debate in a public forum.”
