‘Tune-in and get switched on’ to the anti-gun crime message - MPA collaborates with Choice FM

Cindy Butts, independent member of the Metropolitan Police Authority, will join Choice FM this weekend to reiterate the message ‘together we can tackle gun crime.’
The second annual Choice FM ‘Peace on the Streets’ weekend will air debates, discussions and phone-ins to campaign against the use of guns amongst the black community in the UK and especially London.
Speaking about the campaign, Cindy Butts said:
“Gun crime is a problem for the whole of society, decimating lives, bereaving families and affecting our communities safety and wellbeing.
“It should be noted that in the last year the Met has made real progress in its fight against gun crime on London’s streets – gun related incidents have fallen by 8.7% thanks to focussed work across the capital. Notably the work of Operation Trident has brought considerable success and, most importantly, won the support of the community.
“But complacency will never be an option for us. Gun crime remains a top priority for the Met and the Metropolitan Police Authority.
“We recognise that the police and criminal justice system cannot tackle this problem in isolation. The MPA’s recent Gun Crime Scrutiny highlighted the excellent collaborative work between police, charities and other agencies across society that can bring positive benefits to communities and help to divert our young people away from involvement in crime.
“That is why we are pleased to continue our support for Choice FM’s ‘Peace on the Streets’ campaign. So tune-in and get switched on to our anti-gun crime message.”
