MPA seeks speedy and thorough IPCC investigation into tragic death of David Emmanuel

15/11
31 March 2011

At the Metropolitan Police Authority meeting on Thursday 31 March, chair Kit Malthouse spoke of his shock when he learnt of the tragic death of David Emmanuel, also known as Smiley Culture. He offered his condolences to Mr Emmanuel's family  and confirmed that he will meet the IPCC, which is carrying out an investigation into the death, to ensure that it will be concluded as speedily, but as thoroughly, as possible.

He stressed that he would be speaking with the IPCC to ensure that all efforts are being made to liaise directly with the family and friends of David Emmanuel and to re-assure the community of their commitment to the investigation.

He will also ask the IPCC that the conclusions of the investigation be made fully and freely available to the public.
