Association of Police Authorities Gold Equality Standard

In July 2009 the MPA signed up to the Association of Police Authorities (APA) Gold Equality Standard for police Authorities – an equality standard framework that sets out a minimum and gold standard for, respectively, complying with and exceeding equalities legislation.

This equality standard framework has been developed as a tool to enable authorities to integrate age, disability, gender, race, religion &/or belief, sexual orientation and disability into policy and practice at all levels.

As part of the MPA’s drive to integrate equality and diversity the standards adopted will have an impact on all six diversity strands. Combined with the MPA equality scheme; the APA Minimum/Gold Standard will allow the MPA to apply a series of standards that are consistent but flexible enough to recognise the differences, similarities and conflicts that exist within the equality and diversity arena.
