MPA calendar of meetings 2002/03

Report: 04
Date: 11 June 2002
By: Clerk

Summary

This report takes account of requests made by members at the May Authority meeting with regard to the MPA calendar of meetings for 2002/03 and seeks approval for it to be considered at the Authority meeting on 27 June 2002.

A. Recommendation

That

1. the calendar of meetings for 2002/03 given at Appendix 1 (see Supporting material) to the report be submitted to the Authority meeting for ratification; and

2. the Committee now agrees dates for meetings to be held in July so that there is sufficient time for officers to prepare reports for these meetings.

B. Supporting information

1. At the Authority meeting held on 23 May 2002, members agreed that Thursday afternoons should continue to be allocated for MPA meetings, but the draft calendar of dates of committee meetings for 2002/03 take account of members existing commitments and possible travelling difficulties on some of the proposed dates. Members agreed that where a Thursday was not available, meetings should be programmed into the calendar for Mondays or Fridays.

2. Members also agreed that the new Co-ordination and Policing Committee should commence with a formal meeting and be followed by an informal lunchtime briefing and this has now been incorporated within the calendar. However, it should be noted that some members might have difficulties with this arrangement because of religious commitments.

3. A copy of the revised calendar has been circulated to all members for comment prior to this meeting.

4. In order for officers to be able to meet the required deadlines for July 2002 meetings, members are asked to approve the July meeting dates without reference to the full Authority.

C. Financial implications

There are no direct financial implications relating to this report.

D. Background papers
