District Audit report: Review of corporate planning arrangements

Report: 06
Date: 11 November 2002
By: Commissioner

Summary

In May, the Finance, Planning and Best Value Committee considered an action plan outlining the activities proposed to meet the recommendations made by District Audit in its report on the corporate planning arrangements of the MPA and MPS. In this report the MPS provides an update on progress made.

A. Recommendation

That members note the updated action plan as set out in Appendix 1, and that District Audit be informed of progress.

B. Supporting information

1. In late 2001 District Audit conducted a review of MPA/MPS corporate planning arrangements. The resulting report was considered by former Finance, Planning and Best Value Committee at its meeting on 18 April 2002, and on 29 May 2002 the MPS brought a proposed action plan to the meeting.

2. Appendix 1 consists of the template set out as Appendix 2 to the original District Audit report. The MPS has updated the proposed responses and timescales to the recommendations in the template.

3. It can be seen from the tabulated responses that the all but one of the actions proposed to meet the recommendations made have now either been completed, or taken as far as they can be in this planning cycle. The outstanding one awaits the result of an audit of the 2002 plan, due at the end of the year.

C. Equality and diversity implications

There are no direct equality and diversity implications.

D. Financial implications

There are no immediate financial implications.
