Statement by Len Duvall Chair of the MPA: Case of Mr O'Neill Crooks

19/06
24 March 2006

Commenting today on the case of Mr O'Neill Crooks, Len Duvall, chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority, said:

"The Metropolitan Police Authority shares community concerns about the events leading up to the abortive prosecution of Mr O'Neill Crooks, his son and a family friend.

"Following a letter sent by one member of the Authority to the Deputy Commissioner, Paul Stephenson, outlining our concerns and requesting urgent action, we understand that an internal investigation has been inaugurated and that communication with Mr Crooks' family will be established in an effort to resolve the issues.

"The MPA will be taking a keen interest in the progression of this case and will be calling for further updates to be brought to the Authority."
