Metropolitan Police Authority: March Meeting

20/10
22 March 2010

The March meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority will be held in the Chamber, City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA at 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 25 March 2010.

The meeting is open to members of the public and press, and everyone is welcome to attend. There is access for disabled people and induction loops are available.

Kit Malthouse, MPA Chair, will give an oral update on any key issues or events since the last Authority meeting. Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson will present a report on policing performance and respond to questions from Authority members.

Members will discuss the Civil Liberties Panel Report on public order policing ‘Post G20’.  The Panel, part of Met Forward and chaired by MPA member Victoria Borwick, agreed that public order policing should be the subject of its first scrutiny. The report concludes that to maintain public confidence in the way protests are policed a balance must be found between civil liberties and the need to maintain public safety and public order through proportionate policing.

Members will also discuss the following:

  • Policing London business plan 2010/13;
  • Treasury Management strategy statement and investment strategy 2010/11; and
  • Appointment of an independent member to the MPA
